Climate
Brazil lies within the zone of hot climates. In the Amazon Lowland, there is a humid equatorial climate. Annual average temperatures are not high and range between 24-25°C, but the high humidity of the air with the rainfall of 2, 500 – 3, 500 millimeters annually, results in the fact that the air is sultry and sweaty. A typical tropical climate dominates in the Brazilian Highland and its average temperature ranges between 19-26°C. In winter, the temperature falls below 0 degrees very rarely.
There is a distinct rainy season in summer. The north- eastern part of the
country lies in the subtropical dry climate. Droughts appearing here turn often
into natural disasters. The south of Brazil is in the subtropical climate with
mild winters and rains appearing all the year long. The majority of the area
is threatened by rare winter frosts which are a big threat to the coffee crops.
It may be caused by cold masses of air, which can come from the south, from
the Antarctic zone.
