Climate

Mauritius is located in the southern hemisphere and due to his fact the climate in Mauritius is subtropical and tropical. There is summer in Mauritius when in our climate we have winter and it is always the other way round. Temperatures in January for example exceed 30 C, but in August they don’t even reach 20C. A great advantage of the island is also a pleasant water temperature which ranges between 22 and 27 C. The climate in Mauritius is rather mild besides the period between December and April, when cyclones reaching the speed of 255 km/h may affect the island. They need only a couple of hours to run through the island, but they cause serious damages.

The period between January and April is a period of greater humidity and rain falls. The period between December and March is the best period to dive in clear water. June, July and August are the best months for surfing and from October to April it is the best period to angle huge fish preying near to the shore.
