Climate
Three different geographical regions, described in the introduction above,
enjoy three different types of climate. In the coastal area, the summer is hot
and dry, the winter is mild and other seasons are humid. The southern part of
the country has drier air and there are no winter Atlantic lows. In the mountains,
the summer is hot and dry and winter is very severe. The rest of the country
enjoys a warm and dry continental climate, the influence of which is smoothed
by the sea. The Sahara desert has a very dry and hot summer and very cold or
severe winters. The average temperature in January in Morocco ranges between
10-12°C and in July between 24-28°C. On the Atlantic coast, there are
often fogs resulting from a cold oceanic streams. The annual amount of rainfall
in the Middle Atlas totals 1,000 millimeters, in the south and in the south-eastern
part of the country it is below 200 millimeters. It snows in the mountains in
the winter.
